Volunteering

An involved community is our best hope for dynamic changes
We’re creating committees and we’d love to include you. It’s a wonderful way to make a difference in our Mandarin program. Get to know students and families from other classes and schools, and lend your hand and/or creativity at making things happen. Feel free to reach out to JMEC board members with any questions or suggestions, and look out for our house party invites. We’re seeking help with:
  • Parent meetings
  • Mandarin-speaking family recruitment
  • Grant-writing and fundraising
Contest Committee
San Francisco hosts many opportunities for Chinese students to test their language abilities, including poetry recitation, essay writing and translation contests. A JMEC committee has formed to compile a list of the relevant contests in the Bay Area that our students might want to take part in. Several parents have also agreed to put together a list of age-appropriate poems for the annual Bridge Cup poetry recitation contests, and record them for our website so students who don’t have Mandarin speakers at home can practice. Thanks to all who have taken on this important task, and those who can help to continue to update the work!
